Before starting a gas generator it has to be prepared regarding

• prelubrication of certain equipment and
• preheating of the engine itself

Prelubrication takes place with a very small electrical pump, while preheating normally is done with an electrical heater. This normally can take up to 10 minutes which is too long in case of additional power demand.

In order to be able to always start an additional engine within just a few seconds we need to keep the generators constantly preheated taking a lot of electrical energy. Therefor we take advantage of the CHP characteristics of a gas generator by preheating the standby gas generators for free with available hot water.
